Questions About Courses
1. I have already enrolled in a course.
When can I expect to receive my course materials?
Once you pay your balance in full, you can pick up your course materials from your registered Kaplan center.
2. Who can answer my academic questions about the course in which I am enrolled?
We provide academic support to students currently enrolled in a Kaplan course. For Academic Support please call us at 03-3403-3546 or email us at kap-info@kaplan.ac.jp
3. What should I bring to my first class?
If you are enrolled in a video course, please bring the textbooks for the subjects you will be studying, as well as paper for taking notes, and pencils/erasers/pens.
4. Is there homework before the first class?
There's no homework before the orientation session and diagnostic test, but please log on to your kaptest.com homepage prior to the first day of class to sign your Enrollment AGRE®ement.
5. Are classes taught in English?
Yes. All classes at Kaplan Japan are taught exclusively in English.
6. How often are courses offered?
Courses are held on a regular basis. Please view the schedule for details or call us if you have any questions about the schedule.
7. Are there private lessons available?
Yes. Private lessons can be arranged on a one on one basis at one of our centers. Please contact us for more details.
8. Where are teachers from?
The majority of our teachers are native English speakers from the US, the UK, and Canada. We also have trained teachers from Japan and other Asian countries.
9. What are their qualifications?
All teachers have advanced professional deGRE®es, and some have past experience teaching Kaplan programs in other countries before coming to Japan. (See link to teacher profiles.)
10. How is Kaplan Japan different from Kaplan USA?
Kaplan Japan uses the exact same material as Kaplan USA. The only difference lies in the order that the material is delivered. In the US, subjects are blended together (for example, GRE® Math and Verbal are offered in alternating weeks.) At Kaplan Japan, each subject is offered at a time (for example, GRE® Math is offered for seven sessions in a row, then GRE® Verbal is offered for seven sessions).
11. How far in advance do I need to register?
Ideally, you should register at least one week in advance. Registering early will ensure you have a place in the course.
12. What are my options if I miss a class?
Please be aware that the next available course may be several weeks away, which would require you to wait. You may also make up the missed class by video in the training library. For more information on the video make-up, please ask our receptionits.
