Hello everyone!
This week I will not talk about history like I usually do. My wife had a baby girl recently, so I would like to share this news with you all. The baby's name is Mia and she was born at about 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday the 4th of February.
My wife called me while I was at work, and I had to leave and go to the hospital (sorry to those students in my class on Wednesday!) I arrived at the hospital at about 6:45 and my wife was in labour, but not so bad at that point - she was eating dinner when I arrived!
A while later her labour pains were getting stronger, so they took her into the delivery room (the room where the baby is born). At that time there were very few people in the hospital - it is just a small baby clinic. The corridors were all dark and the whole building was silent. It felt like we were in a deserted building; there was only my wife and I, a nurse, a midwife and a doctor (and later my baby of course!)
After about one hour of pushing, where my wife worked very hard, the baby came out. This is quite a short time I have heard. When my baby was born she was very calm, she didn't cry; she just looked around curiously. They put her on my wife's stomach for a couple of minutes and then washed her. You can see some of the photos I took.
Now she is at home, and it seems like she is growing everyday. She is very cheerful most of the time and her little legs feel very strong when she kicks!
