今日はNewsweek List更新のお知らせです。

ワークショップクラス【Newsweek Lecture/Discussion】で学ぶトピックスは下記の通りです。リストではLecture/DiscussionまたはDiscussion/Readingと通しの時間表記ですが、LectureまたはDiscussion、どちらか1コマから受講が可能です。

セミナー講師は著書『米国の日本語教育に学ぶ新英語教育』,『完全マスター英文法』でおなじみの講師、米原幸大が担当！
少人数でのセミナーになりますのできめ細かく対応いたします。
カプランで行っているアイビーリーグイングリッシュとはハーバード大学、エール大学、コーネル大学など世界をリードする米国の多くの大学が使って大きな成果が実証されている外国語習得メソッドを日本人の英語習得に応用させたメソッドです。

　このメソッドでは日本語母語者が英語の習得を試みる場合に問題となるポイントのみにフォーカスしますので、日本語母語者にとって難しいとされてスムーズな英語習得への妨げとなっている弱点が効率よく克服出来ていきます。
　グラマー（文型文法、発音やイントネーションのルール、英語文化上のルールなど）中心に日本人が苦手であると言われているアクティブスキルであるスピーキングやライティングを強化するメソッドですが、理解を伴いながら英語の習得を試みますので同時にリスニングとリーディングのスキルもスムーズに伸びていきます。

In my last post, I shared with you some of my favorite photos of sakura season. This time, I have just a few more photos. These are from my trip to Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Iwakuni from a couple of weeks ago:

I like the shape of roofs in Japan. This photo was taken at Hiroshima castle...I took a lot of pictures there. I think it's because the colors of the castle looked incredible with the blue sky in the background.



See? I told you I like the shape of roofs. :) I have a lot of this type of picture stored on my computer. This is the pagoda on Miyajima.

I was fortunate enough to have time to spend an entire afternoon on Miyajima. I got there when the tide was low, but high tide came at the end of the day, just as the sun was setting. What a perfect way to finish my trip to the island!



Can you tell what this is? It's where my okonomiyaki used to be... That's right. I tried okonomiyaki for the very first time when I was in Hiroshima. If you look carefully, you can see my very last bite of food still sitting on my plate. It was delicious!



I don't know if you have ever been to Iwakuni, but if you haven't, you should try to get there. Hanami season is a particularly good time to go... I was amazed at how beautiful the flowers were! It's too bad that I really can't express with just one photo how gorgeous the area really is. Also, they've got some pretty interesting ice cream, too. So even if you don't care about sakura, or if you can't go in the spring time, it's still worth the trip. :)
I hope you enjoyed these pictures! Now I have to decide where I will visit next...

When students come to us for test prep courses, they are naturally concerned with raising their scores, but they tend to forget that these skills will also help them once they are accepted to the school of their choice. In fact, this may be of even greater importance.


When you think about it, the schools and test makers are trying hard to test those skills which are necessary when studying in an English-speaking environment. Reading comprehension is essential for understanding assigned material and for doing research. Speaking skills are equally important in order to participate fully in class, as is the ability to understand lectures and academic conversations. Writing skills are needed for research papers, homework, and exams. And of course, an extensive vocabulary applies to just about every academic situation.


An intensive test prep course can be one of the best ways to quickly improve these skills, and will help ensure top performance.
