During their visit, we were able to do quite a few things...some were even firsts for me as well, like this trip to Atami. My mom loves foot baths (足湯), so she looks forward to her visits to Japan. Last time we went to Hakone, but this time I wanted to go to a placed I'd never been before either. It was even my first time to wade in the sea since coming to Japan! (Those are my feet in the picture...)
My dad likes sports, so he really wanted to make it to a Japanese baseball game. I surprised him with tickets to see the Giants vs. Yokohama Bay Stars. The Giants won!
Pretty much every time my parents visit, we end up in Asakusa. My dad really likes getting ice cream at a little shop near the Asakusa Kannon Temple because there are so many choices for flavors that we don't have in America. Last year he tried mango, this year...pineapple. My mom got the melon flavor.
Next, off to Kappabashi! My mom had been looking forward to this part of her vacation for almost a year! She loves cooking and wanted to see all the things that were available in Japan. One of the items that interested her the most were these chopstick rests (箸置き).
Even though their visit was short, I think my parents were impressed with how many things we were able to accomplish! They especially loved meeting the people that I live and work with, too. If you didn't get to meet them when they were here in September, maybe you'll get to see them next year!
